CLINICAL RESEARCH CHALLENGE

Dear EAACI Executive Committee Members,

We are excited to announce the Clinical Research Challenge (CRC) 2025, a competition designed for medical students and early career researchers (up to age 23) to enhance their allergy and clinical immunology research skills.

We kindly request your collaboration in promoting this initiative within your network, including universities, research groups, and relevant institutions in your country. This innovative competition allows participants to:

• Engage in an EAACI Online Journal Club.
• Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI).
• Develop a Clinical Research Proposal.

We have prepared a Promo Kit with a banner, a social media template, and a poster with a QR code linking directly to the CRC webpage to facilitate your promotion efforts. You can share this material with your networks to encourage participation.

Key Details:

• Registration Deadline: 30 December 2024
• Round 1 Examination: 10 January 2025
• LOI Submission Deadline: 10 February 2025
• Research Proposal Submission Deadline: 10 March 2025
• Winner Announcement: 10 April 2025

The Challenge will be conducted virtually and consists of 3 Rounds:

Round 1: Online EAACI Journals Club Examination

• Teams will review a piece of literature provided by one of the EAACI journals (Allergy, Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, or Clinical and Translational Allergy) and complete a set of online multiple-choice and true/false questions based on the material.
• The examination portal will be open from 8:00 AM to midnight (CET) on the scheduled day.
• Teams achieving the top 20 scores will advance to Round 2

Round 2: Letter of Intent (LOI) Submission

• Teams will receive a clinically focused research question and will have 2 ½ weeks to develop and submit an LOI online.
• Teams achieving the top 10 scores after the LOI round will advance to Round 3.

Round 3: Research Protocol Development

• Teams will develop a complete research proposal based on the given criteria.
• The top proposals will be evaluated, and the winning teams will be announced.

Interested in applying for the CRC 2025?

CRC is open to medical and biomedical students or early career researchers up to the age of 23 from accredited institutions worldwide that are EAACI members.

Each team will consist of three participants from the same institution.

A faculty member from the participating institution must complete the initial online registration form. Each team will select a leader and provide each member’s name and email address by the registration deadline, 30 December 2024. The eligibility of all team members will be confirmed before the team can compete.

• Invitation to present their research design at the Annual Meeting poster session
• Complimentary total student registrations for the EAACI Annual Meeting and travel and accommodation costs reimbursement.
