Established by Presidential Decree 641/1977 (Government Gazette 200/22-7-1977) as a Branch of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and was transferred to the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) by virtue of Article 70, par. 20 of Law 1566/1985 (Government Gazette 167/30-9-1985).
