The School of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace is in full cooperation with the International Relations Office of Democritus University in the context of Erasmus mobility (incoming and outgoing) for students, faculty members of all levels and staff in order to support the development of extroversion between the Institutions.
Erasmus + is the program offered by the European Commission for education, training, youth and sport and aims at enhancing skills and employability as well as modernizing educational systems and training.
The Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace offers all kinds of mobility withing the program namely:
Erasmus + Studies (for incoming and outgoing students) of all three cycles of study depending on the rules established by bilateral agreements. Here* you can find the table of the bilateral agreements currently effective. Nominations for the autumn semester must reach the Medical School Erasmus Committee Coordinator Assoc. Professor Olga Pagonopoulou by June 15th and for the spring semester by October 1stth (email: opagonop@med.duth.gr). After the nomination, students will have to complete the Learning Agreement which will be signed by all parts. Details about housing, insurance and financial details will be provided by the DUTH International Relations Office (intrela@duth.gr). According to the academic calendar the autumn semester lasts from 1st week of October to the 2nd week of February and the spring semester from the 3rd week of February to the end of June.
Erasmus+ Traineeship (for incoming and outgoing students) of all three cycles of study. Our school offers traineeship positions for medical students of all European and connected countries. Students wishing to apply for a traineeship in the Medical School should contact the Erasmus Committee Coordinator (Assoc. professor Olga Pagonopoulou, email: opagonop@med.duth.gr) after being nominated by their home University or before (according to the home university rules), by sending a short cv and a cover letter with their personal data and clinics or laboratories they wish to be trained into. All communications for the autumn semester must be arranged by June 15th and for the spring semester by October 1st to ensure availability of the respective clinics. Clinical traineeship in the Medical School, DUTh, uses a combination of lectures, seminars, and bedside teaching, with no option to separate components. Bedside teaching takes place in groups on the ward under the guidance of a doctor and covers the clinical component of teaching on relevant topics and alternate with lectures and seminars. At the end of the course, students will be assessed (written in multiple choice format, oral or oral-practical-skills exams).
Erasmus+ Staff Mobility (incoming and outgoing). Staff members (teaching, technical or administrative) can arrange their mobility by directly contacting the DUth International Relations Office at intrela@duth.gr and will be guided accordingly.
